GUIDE Intel UHD Graphics 620 (Whiskey Lake) on Laptop [Clover/OpenCore]

I followed your guide to install osX but was not possible to make exact the same becouse (at least for me), was not working and i was not able to install Catalina. I needed to use the last clover and the UHD 630 config.plist.

Make sure you enable "EC0 to EC" patch in your config.plist.

I have tried to replace the config.plist from UHD 630 for the one that you says (config_HD615_620_630_640_650.plist) and also delete the 2 kexts ("FakePCIID.kext" and "FakePCIID_Intel_HD_Graphics.kext") but i have the same result: rebooting.

Probably due to less DVMT size.

Original Graphics kexts in S/L/E

This means original Graphics related kexts i.e vanilla kexts, no modifications.

How can i check that i have installed the vanilla version of the graphic kexts? can you tell me the name?
Is possible to install them manually if i dont have them or is necesary to reinstall Catalina?

I tried again to make the boot usb disk exactly as you say in your guide, but for me it does not work with both config.plist.

With my actual clover usb disk (last version 5102), i am able to boot my installed Catalina with config_HD615_620_630_640_650.plist if i use a fake ig-plattform-id like you say in your guide but only if catalina has "FakePCIID.kext" and "FakePCIID_Intel_HD_Graphics.kext" instaled. After uninstall the kext ("FakePCIID.kext" and "FakePCIID_Intel_HD_Graphics.kext") i am not able to boot anymore, only with UHD630 config.plist.

With DVMT: windows says that my system have 128 Mb dedicated memory for UHD 620, but i have read that maybe is a fake value and is 32 Mb. I guess also that in the config config_HD615_620_630_640_650.plist there is a patch activated by default to be able to boot with 32 Mb, in the same part where i define the ig-plattform id.

Please, don't think that i have not tried everything and i direct ask for help. I am with this for more than 1 week more than 8 hours every day....

1. I tried to install catalina without luck with your guide and 3 mores, nothing.
2. I tried to install high sierra with luck after 4 tries.
3. Then i found another guide to Catalina and i done. I had luck.
4. Then i look in internet how to activate the UHD correctly, i used like 20 diferent configurations with no luck
5. After all of this i asked for your help.
6. In the process i read all kind of guides to laptops and osx from you, from Rehabman and others. I readed about tables, patching, kext, etc etc.

Yes, but not enabled. You must enable it. By default, it's disabled. But you're using a SSDT. So keep it disabled.

If the system is vanilla, no need to reinstall.

You must note that if it doesn't works, still, you need to use those files and keep checking with me what's the issue behind it.

What error do you get when you boot? Attach the verbose output.

- Yes, my installation is vanilla (i made with the official Catalina instalator program downloaded and using the command that is your guide), so i have the vanilla kext.
- My kextcache right now says nothing, everithing ok, but is attached.
- I have compared the 2 config.plist (hd 620 and uhd 630) and i see that the only diference is the 2 parameters that i need to change to activate correctly the graphic acceleration, so i guess that at the end, when i modify the 2 things that you say, is the same use one or another, maybe i am wrong but anyway i have used the one for HD 620 (the one that you told me) and when i try to boot i have a kernel panic and reboot. I have attached the error extracted with the console.
- I have attached the clover configuration that makes the kernel panic.

Thanks for the detailed information. The issue is due to the DVMT.

- I have attached the clover configuration that makes the kernel panic.

Here are few issues.

• The HFS+ and SMCHelper driver is missing. Replace VBoxHfs.efi with HFS+. Probably, you did NOT followed the guide.
• You should choose one. Either FakeSMC or VirtualSMC. Not both. As per my guide, i suggest to use FakeSMC.
• Update Lilu+WEG.
• MBP15,2 is a poor choice. I did NOT asked to modify the SMBIOS. Just use the original ""config_HD615_620_630_640_650.plist".

Edit your config.plist as mentioned in the post #1 of this guide.

Attach your PR files after you make the changes.

- Yes, i guess that the problem is with DVMT, i thought that with the integrated patch in WhateverGreen will be enought but....
- You are right, i didn't use exactly your guide to install catalina, but it does not work with my computer. I used the last version of Clover and tried to adapt to your guide becose the drivers was not exactly the same, but for sure i have made mistakes.
- I have included the HFS+ driver that is in your guide.
- I have fast the last version (1 week ago), but i have replace with the very last version of Lilu and WhateverGreen (3 days ago version).
- I have used FAKESMC like you say.
- You are right, i implemented the SMBIOS info becouse i have seen sometimes ppl with graphic problems and they say "change the smbios to a good one".
- I have used again the hd620 config.plist original version and i have included your 2 changes for graphic card.

I can not boot, have kernel panic also
but now the error is diferent as before but says something about framebuffer so...

I asked to replace. VBoxHfs must be removed.

Revert the ig-platform-id and device id to the original one. Check if you can boot the Laptop. If not, uncomment "#" from the patches in the Device section.

Sorry, i forgot to delete. My foult. Now is deleted.

- First try, like before with the patchen config.plist. Same error with same kernel panic.
- Second try, i have returned to original config.plist without your 2 patches. I have booted with -v and was all normal until the laptop screen turn complet black and stoped there. I think that was not blocked becouse when i press a key in the laptop keyboard, the backlight go on and after a few seconds off. I can do this for ever. After that i have booted with my "safe" config (the one for the UHD 630) and OsX didn't say me that was a kernel panic, so.. don't know.
- Third try, i have removed in Device/Properties one # in every line to activate all the patches and i have booted my laptop. Same result. Attached is the config.plist used, becouse i am not sure if i have done correctly with uncomment properties.

I have seen in your guide that some laptops can have black screen and a tutorial to backlight control activating. Should i follow this guide?

I forgot to say that i am always able to boot with the default version of the UHD630 config.plist but of course without metal.
