Hi All,

I have recently got my system up and running and everything is working great after following MikeMods 'Everything Works' guide to Asus z390, although his component are different - https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...apphire-nitro-radeon-rx-vega-64-build.272572/

The one remaining issue which I have been unable to solve is the issue of a graphics glitch when booted into macOS which randomly stutters when moving the mouse, moving a window or scrolling across the dock. At times the issue resolves itself, then it seems to come back randomly for no particular reason. This is happening on all outputs of the graphics card (2 x HDMI, 2 x DP). I have searched all over Google and this forum and despite many people experiencing something similar, I have never come across a fix when carrying out the recommended steps.

I have pasted below a link to my EFI folder if anyone has the time to check it through. As far as I know, I have completed most of the steps that others have recommended - is there anything else I could try to help narrow down the issue?

I do know that the issue is not the mouse, as this works fine on a MacBook Pro. This is also happening on all 4 of the outputs of the GPU (2 x HDMI, 2 x DP). I have whatevergreen installed - assuming this is still needed?

Framebuffer = Orinoco
Platform ID = 0x3E980003 (Intel UHD Graphics 630)
InjectIntel = Yes

My motherboard is the Asus Maximus Hero XI (non-wifi)

EFI LINK: https://we.tl/t-asNq527WHo

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Mike

You don't need to inject any framebuffers for the AMD. Intel is being used in headless mode. And you don't even need to inject the properties for IGPU. Just enable it in BIOS and the AMD will work OOTB using Lilu+WEG and a GPU rename will help you to achieve better PM.

If you're seeking help here, you must follow the guidelines for the builds and issues and also follow the rules.

Incomplete PR files attached. Kextcache output and IOReg is missing.

The configuration is not as per the guide.

Start here:

Thank you and sorry for not following the guidelines. I will take a look at the guide now - thanks for taking the time to reply.

You're welcome.

After taking a comprehensive look and following the steps in your guide, I am pleased to say that the issue seems to be resolved. My config.plist was a long way from where it should have been and it seems a lot more stable now. Thanks for the advice and for putting together a great guide - the best advise I have been able to find since starting out on the custom build!

Hi @elitemac86

After taking some time with the new config, it appears that the issue is not resolved as I thought. Is there a chance you could take a look? I have uploaded the required files here: https://we.tl/t-s8EJY1SimW

The issue is that the mouse / graphics appear to stutter - that is when moving the mouse, moving windows or scrolling the dock.

In addition to this, I am also having an issue with restarting or shutting down when the PC entered the BIOS in POSTed state due to a failed shut down. Is there a way I can resolve this?

Regards,
Mike

I should also mention that I tried to check the KernelPM option under Kernels and Kexts Patches, but it was greyed so I was unable to select it..

Hi guys,

Is anyone able to help us with this? Im sure it is just a minor alteration that needs to be done, I am just not experienced enough to determine what exactly is at fault here.

Regards,
Mike

When following the guide, you won't have any issues. :)

No details have been provided. Provide the following details.

What monitor?
What Display Cable?

Here are the following issues:
  • You're having duplicate kexts installed. Remove AppleALC+Lilu from L/E.
  • You don't need the sensors kext. Remove it.
  • The config.plist is missing renames.
  • For RX 580, you don't need to use "agdpmod=pikera". Remove it.
  • KernelPm must be checked.
  • Use iMacPro1,1 as a SMBIOS.

For the post state, it's due to RTC. You need to add a RTC patch in the Kernel. I'll post the guide soon.
I should also mention that I tried to check the KernelPM option under Kernels and Kexts Patches, but it was greyed so I was unable to select it..
Use Xcode to configure.

Hi there, thank you for getting back to me on this issue - I am happy to report that the issues I was experiencing have been resolved. After following the same steps you mention, and support from Miliuco, I was able to install a new config which has cleaned everything up ;)

Thanks again for taking the time out to investigate this for me - it is truly appreciated.

All the best,
Mike
