GUIDE How to Install macOS Big Sur on Unsupported Mac Pro [MacPro3,1, Mac Pro4,1 and MacPro5,1]

Oh right. No, I wasn't sure a)what it was, b)if I needed it for a 'Real' Mac and c)don't know how to use it, but I will look into that if you think it might be necessary to help fix the USB 1.x issues. Thanks for your help.

I suggest you to repatch the kexts and then check. If that doesn't helps, a renaming needs to be done and injection will take place using OC. Check the post #5 for OpenCore and why you need it.

Your compatibility list seems to have missed out Mac Pro (mid 2010) 5,1

Is this correct?
it seems odd that it will work for 2009 4,1 and 2012 5,1 but not 2010 5,1?

Yes, it seems to be missing. But it will work for sure. Have to update the guide soon.

Great, Thanks for the very quick reply.

I shall attempt this once i've received and installed the upgraded Wifi and Bluetooth 4.2 card. Fingers crossed.

Hi,

I've been following the guide to install Big Sur on my mid 2010 Mac Pro 5,1, but. I have got stuck on the section to 'Run EFI utility" as the metal compatible graphics card that I have installed (Vega 64) does not have a EFI boot screen. So when I restart holding <option> nothing happens.

If I swapped out the Vega card for the original apple card that had a boot screen just for this part, would that work?

Many thanks

You need to flash it first.

Flash the Vega card?

How do I do that?

I have seen something about using Open core, but I'm not sure how to go about that or if its even what I need to do? Any ideas? I really need to upgrade to big sur and get graphics acceleration from the vega card.
