5GHz WiFi on a native Apple card doesn't work properly

It doesn't want to connect to 5GHz networks anymore with this kext installed, even tried splitting my 2.4 and 5GHz networks into separate SSIDs

Remove kext. Remove boot args. Provide your 5GHz settings for WiFi from your Router. A picture would be enough. If the WiFi can connect, connect to 5GHz. Press and hold Option Key on your Keyboard and click on WiFi. Provide a screenshot.

Doesn't seem to want to connect to it anymore

It does see it though

Already tried it with smart connect off, didn’t change a thing. It just didn’t want to connect to the network at all (tried different routers as well, it just doesn’t connect on macOS but does connect on Linux).

and yes, I can change channels manually once I turn off smart connect.

ok this is wired, its not connecting to 5GHz networks at all now. not even on the latest Ubuntu (22.04)

Is there a possibility that installing that kext overwrote the firmware on the card?

Turn off Smart Connect. Set the Channel Width to 80MHz and Channel Number to 155 for 5GHz. Restart the Router.

Remove all the WiFi and BT related kexts. Reset NVRAM twice and then Shut it Down. Turn off PSU, and wait for a min or two to drain the caps. Turn on the PSU and turn on the system. Reset NVRAM twice and then check. Make sure not to boot into any other OS.

The kext does load the firmware but it cannot write the firmware to the card unless in DFU mode.

I saw other people with the same issue just suggesting to buy this card instead: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001553083262.html

That's recommended.

I managed to get it to connect to a 5GHz network again, but getting the same symptoms as before, barely any connection.

Channel 155 isn't available in my country and my routers are already set to 80MHz
