How To Fix Garbled Mouse Cursor on Ice Lake Laptops
This guide describes how to fix the garbled mouse cursor on Ice Lake Laptops. This guide is supported by both, i.e. Clover and OpenCore Bootloader. By following this guide, you'll be able to fix the garbled mouse cursor and get a normal cursor.
Overview
Since the introduction of Intel Skylake CPUs, a lot of issues have been there on the Mac platform, such as Display, Audio, and HDMI. A small cursor problem was recently reported on Ice Lake laptop by a fellow user. Interestingly, despite the graphics acceleration works, the cursor is distorted, in 3-5 parts. Upon doing some quick research over the internet, we came to know that there are couple of users having the same issue with their Ice Lake laptops. When doing a quick check of the configuration files, we came to know that the Device Properties for the IGPU were not configured properly.
This issue is caused due to insufficient DVMT memory. Although, can be fixed using stolenmem and fbmem framebuffer patching.
However, there are known issues with Ice Lake CPUs.
