Was looking at the guide and came to this section and I think its missing method 2 and pictures so can i get some help on what to do after downloading "Install macOS Big Sur" from the Apple store and how to create USB boot disk image with OC EFI partition?

Extracting the Installer

(a). Method #1: Using App Method

1. Download the required macOS/OS X version using the guide above.
2. Download and install Pacifist.
3. Mount the .DMG file
4. Open the .pkg file using Pacifist and you'll see the following.

Right now I have a file called:
/Applications/Install macOS Big Sur.app on my desktop. I also installed Pacifist.

How to mount .DMG from this .app?

Which guide are you referring to?

.App and .DMG are two different File Extensions. .app is basically for any Application which can be executed directly. Whereas, .DMG is another extension. Apple Disk Image is a disk image format commonly used by the macOS operating system. When opened, an Apple Disk Image is mounted as a volume within the Finder.

To help you understand in a more simple way, you can put any file within a Disk Image which will be .DMG and when you open it in Finder, you'll have your file. If you ever have used ISO on Windows, it's similar to that.

Regarding this specific boot thingy, if you already have the .app installer which is used to create Bootable USB using Createinstallmedia command, not sure why are you involving .DMG in it and not sure what .DMG has to do with it.

hi im referencing this guide below in this section where you explain what to do with the InstallESD.dmg but there are no pictures explaining what to or where to save the file other than Pacifist will extract the .dmg to custom location. what then?

https://elitemacx86.com/threads/how...ncore-uefi-legacy-opencore-install-guide.950/

From the top, click on Package Resources, just next to Archive Contents and you'll see something similar to the following

Expand the InstallOS/Instal OS X Contents and you'll see something similar to the following

Right-click on InstallESD.dmg and select Extract to Custom Location and you'll see something like below

When prompted, select the location for storing the .dmg file and click on Choose

When prompted, click on Extract to begin the extraction process.
When prompted, enter your password and click on OK button.

Pacifist will start extracting the ESD file to your chosen location.
For both the Offline Methods described above, you can use the createinstallmedia command to create a Bootable USB
