The guide is for installations. There were some additions necessary in postinstall to get WiFi and audio running. The DSDT was created by someone else with the same hardware many years ago and worked fine in Lion and Mavericks. I never tried to patch it.
Macs Fan Control does not recognize any fans. If there is a kext or driver to help with that it might be possible to get rid of the freezes.
