as per the title of this post, is it possible to install Sonoma on a HFS+ formatted drive, or does Apple force you to use APFS?
i would like to use HFS+.

It will automatically convert the volume in APFS during the installation. Any particular reason to use HFS+ instead of APFS for the boot drive?

The last time i tried to avoid APFS conversion was in High Sierra. Really never tried after that!
