How to Obtain OpenCore config.plist​

An EliteMacx86 Exclusive Guide - This guide covers obtaining config.plist for OpenCore bootloader.

To obtain config.plist for OpenCore, you need to download OpenCore.
1. Download the Release folder followed by the release version.
When extracting, you'll get 4 folders which have been listed below.

Directories	Purpose
Docs	Contains documentation, change log, a sample config.plist, and ACPI Samples for OpenCore
IA32	Contains OpenCore EFI, 32-bit OpenCore Boot Loader
Utilities	Contains several utilities
x64	Contains OpenCore EFI, 64-bit OpenCore Boot Loader

2. Copy sample.plist from Docs to your working directory and rename it to config.plist.

I've managed to successfully follow all the instructions until #5. I'm confused about what "working directory" is on my mac pro 5,1. And I'm struggling with the opencore bit of the process. I've downloaded the 3 kexts and copied them into the kexts folder in X64 (which I copied onto my desktop - but not sure really where to copy X64 to). Any help would be gratefully received at this point. I'm so close, but the instructions are a bit difficult for me on #5.

Do you mean #5 is replaced with the link you provided?
Or do you mean start the whole process of a clean install of Big Sur from scratch using this new link?

Yes, please use the guide linked above to perform a clean install of Big Sur or the other target OS you want to.

I've attempted twice today to do a clean install of Big Sur using the link you sent me, but unfortunately when it reboots mid-installation a white screen and a prohibited sign come up and I can't go any further with the installation.

The second time, I got rid of everything and started again from scratch, but the same result.

Any help or guidance would be so appreciated, because I'm pulling hair out here.

That's normal. You would need to select the EFI and then boot using the target disk in the picker.

The second time, I got rid of everything and started again from scratch, but the same result.
