How to Fix Slow Ethernet Speed on macOS
Overview
Recently,
On certain systems the ethernet may have less speeds (close to 10Mbps) even when the ISP connection is 1Gb/s link. While it could have worked prior with no issues, upgrading to macOS Ventura and above can cause problems. Since macOS Monterey update, Apple has started to use DriverKit (DEXT) driver and has also been implementing the support for more ethernet models natively. While it is preferred to use the native driver for the less conflicts, it may not work as expected always.
STEP 1: Check Ethernet Settings
STEP 2: Check Cable
STEP 3: Switch to Third Part Driver
If you have ruled out the STEP #1 and STEP #2 and still having issues, then this is the last workaround which is to switch to a third party driver that will take over the native driver. Depending on your Ethernet chip model, check if a third party driver (Kext) is available.
