Hi!

I've been trying to install macOS Catalina on an Acer Travelmate P645-S (i5 5200u, HD 5500). I'm able to boot into the installation menu and install macOS to the hard drive; however, I cannot see the boot picker. I've tried setting the minver/mindate to -1, made sure the default picker is enabled and set as "Builtin," but I still cannot see the bootpicker. I also tried to use old versions of OC but still no budge. What seems to be the problem, and how do I fix it?

EFI

Here are some snippets of my log file that seems to indicate that OC should already be displaying.

Thank you!

You cannot see the Boot Picker or the Drive in the Boot Picker?

Hi!

I cannot see the OC boot picker itself. The debug texts would first show then it disappears into a black screen.

Try to disable ProvideConsoleGop in the UEFI>Output section of your config.plist

I've successfully booted into the OpenCore boot menu and I was able to finish the installation

But this time when I'm picking the "macOS Installer" selection, the laptop suddenly freezes on the OC boot menu.

My newest log is here and the zip of the EFI. I've tried disabling SecureBootModel and it still does not work. How do I fix this now?

Thank you so much!

What macOS version are you trying to install?

macOS Catalina
Set ResizeAppleGpuBars to -1 and then check. Also, set ScureBootModel to Disabled for now. Make sure to reset NVRAM twice.

Hi!

I gave up on installing Catalina and tried installing Big Sur instead. The laptop now boots Big Sur. It's almost perfect, as I am still yet to fix sleep (will read your guide in a bit).

Thank you so much!

Glad you were able to install it. As the original issue is fixed, marking solved and closing this thread. Consider creating a new thread for the rest of the issues you might have.
