I published this on a German speaking Forum called „hackintosh-forum“ recently:
I have run the operating systems OS 13 and OS 14 (on external SSD disks) on this laptop using OCLP. Now the internal graphics card (Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB) is pretty weak. I would therefore like to use the above-mentioned external graphics card “Sonnet Breakaway Puck Radeon RX 5500 XT”. Can anyone tell me exactly how to proceed? I have not found any instructions/tips on the net.
I got this only answer:
Simply connect via Thunderbolt and then reboot. This is the variant I always wanted with my small computers, but only with the current coffee machine and the Z390 board does it finally work.
No outsourced graphics without TB.
I have tried that suggestion – but I did not work. No surprise so far.
Afterwards I posted this on the same forum:
Unfortunately, that didn't work. I have tried various things.
The external Sonnet Breakaway Puck Radeon RX 5500 XT graphics card is connected to the above-mentioned laptop via an adapter from TB3 to TB2.
1. if I want to start EfiBoot first and then OS 13 by holding down the option key, nothing actually happens: black background with Apple icon, nothing else.
2. if I boot via EfiBoot and then OS 13, this is the normal boot process for me so far, which always works perfectly. If I then plug in the TB cable afterwards, the symbol for the external graphic card is briefly displayed in the bar at the top, clicking on it indicates that no external graphics card is present.
Is it really the case that the external graphics card should work without the help of Kryptonite? I can hardly imagine that. If Kryponite is still necessary, how should I set it up and which auxiliary files should I add?
Until now I haven‘t got any reaction to this second post.
