Hi there thanks in advance for helping me :)

I have a Lenovo ideapad y700 14isk:
Processor: Intel core i7-6700 HQ
Switchable graphics: AMD R9 M375
iGPU: HD 530
MAC OS: Monterey 12.7 (21G816)

Cannot connect to external display; Graphics acceleration is working.

I've tried multiple methods was not able to get it to work, I've a thought that my hdmi port is connected to the switchable graphics so i tried removing the [-wegnoegpu] from my boot args, I booted just fine but couldn't get my display to work. When i try plugging the HDMI the laptop display flickers twice and comes back to normal.

Here is the IO REGISTRY SCREENSHOT:

Well, you'll need to check if the external ports are connected to the dGPU or IGPU.

Hi, thanks for replying :)
I dont think I'll be able get windows on this laptop soon, but I'm pretty sure it was connected to my iGPU.
But a few months ago, I installed monterey on the same laptop, and HDMI and everything just seemed to be working fine with graphics acceleration, unfortunately I'm not able to find the efi of that build. I just can't figure out where I'm going wrong.

Well, the question is how did you confirm?

Are you sure?

Before I installed Monterey, I had windows, while changing the refresh rate for my monitor I had to access that panel, so I remember that showing up.

YES, I very much remember getting monterey up and running in this machine, the efi got messed up while i was trying to update it to ventura and I had to switch to windows.

But I'll make sure to check again in windows. I've another drive in which I can install windows on, but will installing windows on it and replacing my Monterey installed drive temporarily from my laptop cause an isssue?

Then, it the framebuffer patching.

I've got it working! But the only down side is that I cannot use my switchable graphics.. I had disabled my AMD gpu in bios and now everything works! I ran into another issue where i was not able to spoof the gpu but i think I'll make another post about it..

As these are optimus, it won't work on macOS. The dGPU must be disabled for the IGPU to work and if you want to make the dGPU work, IGPU must be factory disabled or the BIOS must have setting to disable the IGPU.

As the original issue is resolved, closing this thread.
