How to Add Boot Args [Clover/OpenCore]

An EliteMacx86 Exclusive Guide - This guide covers adding boot args in Clover and OpenCore.

Boot Arg is required for several purposes and there are different boot args to serve different purposes. Boot arg can be added to Clover and OpenCore. To add the boot args, follow the steps below.

Clover

If you're using Clover as a bootloader, follow the steps below to add boot args.

1. Mount your ESP.
2. Open your config.plist using any XML editor from the EFI/Clover directory.
3. Add the required Boot Args under Boot Arguments in the Boot section of your config.plist.
4. Save your config.plist.

OpenCore

1. Mount your ESP.
2. Open your config.plist using any XML editor from the EFI/OC directory.
3. Add the required Boot Args under the 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 UUID list in the NVRAM section of your config.plist.
4. Save your config.plist.

NOTE:
  • If you're using Clover Configurator or OpenCore Configurator, you can find the list of available boot args in Clover or OpenCore Configurator itself. Right-click and select boot-args and you can see a bunch of available boot-args.

Yes, of course. Depending on the case, it can be either added before installation or during the post-install. Please note that mandatory boot args must be added before the installation.
