I landed here, because I became in trouble updating my 5.1 from Catalina to Big Sur.
I'm a cMP user for many years and use it mainly for Logic Pro.

As per the specs in your profile, you should have no problem updating it to Big Sur. Can you explain what issue are you encountering?

Hey Admin,

thanks for hearing after me! I finally got it: unlike the transition from Mojave to Catalina I had to swap the unflashed 580 GPU to my old one to get the boot screen. After that, it was so easy. Before, it wrecked my nerves! I am on Monterey now and maybe going further, but it seems to be a stable version. Thank you again!
