Motherboard
HP Victus 16
CPU
AMD Ryzen 7 5800H
Graphics
RTX 3060 Laptop
Bootloader
  1. OpenCore (UEFI)
Mobile Phone
  1. iOS
System Specs:
  • Laptop: HP Victus 16-e0xxx
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H (Cezanne)
  • GPU: AMD Radeon Vega 8 (Integrated) / NVIDIA RTX 3050 (Disabled via SSDT)
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
  • Storage: Lexar 512GB NVMe SSD
  • Ethernet: Realtek RTL8111
  • Wi-Fi/BT: Realtek/MediaTek
  • Bootloader: OpenCore 1.0.6 (Current)
  • macOS Version: macOS Tahoe (Recovery Install)
Hi! I am trying to install macOS Tahoe on my HP Victus. I have successfully downloaded the base system via Android USB Tethering (HoRNDIS), but upon rebooting to the "macOS Installer" entry on the SSD, I am hitting a Prohibitory Sign (Circle with a line).

The verbose log shows: Still waiting for root device.

What I have tried so far:

  1. USB Mapping: Used USBToolBox.kext + UTBMap.kext.
  2. ACPI Patches: Generated SSDT-USB-Reset.aml, SSDT-USBX.aml, SSDT-EC.aml, and SSDT-PNLF.aml using SSDTTime.
  3. Quirks: XhciPortLimit is set to False, ReleaseUsbOwnership is True.
  4. Boot-args: -v debug=0x100 keepsyms=1 npci=0x2000 nvmefasmon mwait=0.
  5. NVMe Fix: Using NVMeFix.kext and set SetApfsTrimTimeout to -1.
  6. Physical: Tried different USB ports (2.0 and 3.0) and performed Reset NVRAM after every config change.
Current Status: The boot process hangs at AppleUSBHostPort errors before showing the prohibited sign. It seems like the kernel loses connection to the USB drive during the second stage of the installation.

I am attaching my EFI folder.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Your EFI is not as per the guide.

Add GenericUSBXHCI.kext (Ryzen fork) and use the latest NootedRed.kext. During the installation stage, ensure the NootedRed.kext is disabled and ensure WEG is not present.

Hi! Thanks your your answer.

I've tried what you said. I think I downloaded the correct kext. (https://github.com/RattletraPM/GUX-RyzenXHCIFix), but it continue failing, same error.

Can you tell me what guide do I have to follow in my case in order to create correctly the EFI? I prefer to install MacOs Tahoe but if it is going to be more difficult, I don't mind to use the previous version.
I have follow some of your guides, but I think I may have mixed the versions/files... :(

Thanks again!

Tahoe is very specific about the USB ports. Have a read below:
