So I've been following this guide. It's an easy-to-follow guide, and I like it, esp. that it's the only one so far that mentions iMac 8,1 as unofficially supported. I've been having a couple of issues.
- I run into this something similar to this error. Currently running dosdude1-patched Sierra on my iMac 2008. Flash drive's capacity = 16 GB.
- I got hold of a working PC and used Paragon to convert to GPT then format to Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Don't know why, but I was able to get setvars working. I clicked EFI Boot during boot, and iMac shut down successfully. But then, when I restarted and booted into Big Sur USB drive, I saw the Apple logo, then a loading bar under, and halfway through, everything was replaced with a (sad) prohibitory symbol.
