Greetings to all

I would like to talk again, about Firewire connections and specifically about the MIDAS Venice series F.
I understand that Firewire is obsolete because of the Apple brand and its OSX, although there are thousands of peripherals that use this port all over the world, I don't think that the professionals who trusted it are interested. And what to say about everything that refers to the MIDAS Venice F also, after being absorbed by mr. Beringher, but beyond that, and with no intention of going looking for those responsible for this mess

Is there no IT engineering service that can offer a service to purchase driver updates? There is no programmer to be able to make a firewire recognition application in Ventura or later? with the thousands of computer engineers out there right now? I understand that it is a problem of programming not of machines that work well.

The brands would have to be obliged, by law, to support their own products for a minimum of 15 years, a lot of ecology and a lot of law to end up throwing away products that are in perfect condition of use.

How much time wasted programming and looking for solutions instead of making music… If someone knows a solution to implement Kernells cables or others for firewire recognition in Sequoia or Ventura or for the installation of the MIDAS Venice F series driver, I would appreciate it.

I've tried the firewire connection to USB-C to Thunderbolt info Thunderbolt to firewire but it doesn't work.
I'm looking now to copy the Mojave OSX programming Kernells to see if they work with Catalina... I can go back to High Sierra but I'm increasingly limited by software.
I understand that the machines work perfectly but it is the programming that causes these problems. Programmed obsolescence with machines that run perfectly.
I had a stable configuration with High Sierra but I wanted to update to Catalina to be able to access a more complete software.
I don't understand how there isn't some computer engineering company that doesn't update drivers and applications and sell them in order to make machines that aren't exactly cheap.

Cordially

FireWire still works fine. However, the requirements have changed now.

What FireWire hardware you want to use on your Mac Pro?

I was using High Sierra and no problem, but when I tried to use Catalina I ran out of it. The question is about Catalina but at the same time, if I have to change computer, can Ventura or Sequoia work with FireWire? I understand Apple has decided not to support it.

Thank you

FireWire works fine till Monterey. Since Ventura, the stack has been removed. The reason is this technology is quite obsolete now and there are devices with Thunderbolt 3/4.

It's possible To install MIDAS Venice F in Ventura and connect whit firewire-thunderbolt cable? Why Monterrey works fine and not in Catalina?

Manu thanks for your time!

To rephrase, it works fine until Monterey. Then patching is required for new macOS versions.

Sorry, I didn't ask the right question

ok, so why am I having problems with firewire in Catalina?

And where can I find the patch for the latest OSX?

thanks for your time

What kind of problems are you having? Can you elaborate?
The peripheral driver works, and easy to install but when i go online the firewire connection is red/disconnected. At the beginning of installing Catalina it worked and it stopped working and I don't know why.

There are several patches. What specific patch you're looking for?
For Catalina firewire for this moment.

With the information we have provided, the sky has opened up for me because with a new machine I could still work with firewire, I didn't know that. I have a peripheral that I don't want to lose and one of the resistances I had to changing the computer was this.

Thank you
