Apple has done it again. New year, new update on their desktop operating system. And it's awesome.
Here's everything you need to know about the new OS.
1. FastHere's everything you need to know about the new OS.
I know this is going to be subjective to every one and their particular hardware. But in my personal experience, it's been pretty great. Faster than High Sierra. And hopefully more secure, as well. But I guess, we'll see about that part in a few months. If you remember, High Sierra has got some issue where people could login as root using any password and other performance/lag issues. So it's definitely a good update.
2. Dark ModeI don't know if you guys were wishing for this, but it's been something I've always wanted since El Capitan's pseudo-dark mode. Now it's finally here! And it looks awesome!
Finder, the MacOS file explorer now has a new redesigned interface, capable of showing useful information about your images, right inside the main window. Something particularly useful to photographers.
And it's also black...or white.
2. Dynamic wallpapers
To keep things consistent, the wallpaper now reacts to the time of day, showing you a different version, depending on that.

Night
4. Declutter your Desktop
If you can't seem to know what to do with your files and you throw them all on the Desktop, Apple has now found a really smart way to help you with that. It's a new sorting feature you can access by right clicking anywhere on your Desktop and clicking Use Stacks. In a fraction of a second, your messy Desktop is now all nice and tidy.

After
5. Screenshots app just got better. A LOT better.
Cmd + Shift + 5 now gives you access to all the options you need for taking a screenshot and...(wait for it) video screen recording. Awesome! Something I've wanted to have since forever! No need to use QuickTime for that anymore.
6. FaceTime with up to 32 people (coming later this Fall)
If you've got a bunch of friends and you wanna have a "one call says it all" kind of gathering, now you can. Well, technically not right now, since Apple is not yet done finalizing this feature. But it should be available later this Fall.
7. Four new apps for the Mac: News, Stocks, Home, Voice Memos
News
Stocks
Home
Voice Recorder
8. New Mac App Store
Gone is the old iOS-like UI of the Mac App Store. Here's to the new design! Now that's what a new, fresh app should look like.
9. Import photos from other Apple devices (such as iPhone)
Have you ever needed a picture inside a document on your Mac and had to send it to yourself in an email, or wait for your iCloud Photo Library to sync your new photos so you can access it from your Mac?
Well, you can still do that! But if you love simplicity, and you like to live your life rather than spend it waiting, you'll probably love Apple's new Import Photo from iPhone feature. Now you can use the iPhone's camera to either take a photo or scan a document which will be instantly uploaded to the perfect place inside your document on your Mac. Pretty neat, huh?
I sure love it.

If you liked what you've read so far, you can go ahead and download Mojave from the Mac App Store.
N-joy!
