Seems like this thread was missed. Was the issue fixed? The VGA has limitations and may not be supported on some systems. However, DVI should work as expected. On some systems, connector patching might be required for proper resolution and you must take care of DVMT as well.

It could be likely possible that you booted off the OC to Windows which has the modded EDID. If not, is there a possibility that the Laptop had a screen replacement or was used/repaired/refurbished? Moreover, did it have the problem like this before on Windows? Post the EFI and a copy of IOReg.
