For years I had perfectly working Continuity on my hackintosh (Asus Prime H270-Plus, SMBIOS iMacPro1,1) – iPhone as a wired camera and microphone over USB, no hacks, everything just worked in Zoom and other video apps. After updating macOS Sequoia from 15.7.4 to 15.7.5, Continuity simply died: the Mac stopped seeing the iPhone as a camera/mic, and all the usual “voodoo” (toggling Handoff, BT/Wi‑Fi, restarts, signing out and back into Apple ID) did absolutely nothing.
Worth noting: my Wi‑Fi has been working for a long time via an OCLP root patch (legacy card), and with this setup all Continuity features were fine up to 15.7.4, so this really looks more like a regression in 15.7.5 than a brand‑new config mistake on my side. I know that running Continuity over patched Wi‑Fi/BT is always a bit of a house of cards, but the fact it broke exactly on this Sequoia build is suspicious.
From what I’m seeing online, I’m not alone – 15.7.4/15.7.5 can nuke the entire continuity stack even on real Macs (camera, mirroring, clipboard, etc.), not just on hackintoshes. This really looks like a bug in this specific Sequoia build, not a misconfigured SMBIOS or missing kexts; some people report similar issues only went away after the next macOS patch rather than after the usual troubleshooting rituals.
For now I’ve completely ditched Continuity and switched to using my iPhone as a webcam via Camo/EpocCam, i.e. a classic bridge app that exposes the phone as a regular virtual UVC camera to macOS. It’s stable, but definitely a step back from the native solution that had “just worked” for years. If anyone is running a hackintosh with iMacPro1,1 and Sequoia 15.7.5 where Continuity Camera still survives after the update (especially with OCLP‑patched Wi‑Fi/BT), I’d love to see your setup and any workarounds – because right now this release just looks broken.
