BIOS/UEFI Settings for macOS (Intel/AMD)
Most motherboards will work with only a few changes from Optimized Defaults. However, for some systems, you must change the settings for booting macOS and optimal performance. Before you start making changes to your BIOS, ensure you're running the latest available BIOS/UEFI on your target system.
Here are some recommended Settings for your BIOS/UEFI. The settings are valid for Intel and AMD, including Laptops. To access your BIOS/UEFI, press and hold the Delete key on your Keyboard. The BIOS key may be different in your case. Refer to your Motherboard Guide/Manual for more information.

- To disable Secure Boot, you might need to clear the Security keys, (Platform Keys (PK)) on some systems. These keys are located under "Key Management."
- For some laptops, you need to set the Administrator password when disabling Secure Boot otherwise you might get a "Secure Boot Fail" message when booting using a USB installer.
- For some Dell Laptops, if your Laptop restarts while plugging/unplugging the AC Adapter, try changing the Legacy Option ROMs setting. If it's enabled, try to disable it. If it's disabled, try to enable it.
